LOL, he was special, and maybe even in '88, but played at ND from '93-96.

No worries. I kind of thought that was who you were thinking of.

Is the mail that slow in PA?

Kind of reminds me of when Rocket Ismail played for Notre Dame

Marc Edwards ran a 4.7 on a good day, carrying 240 lbs.

Xander ran a 4.54, and tips the scales at 220 lbs as a high school sophomore. He has a better cutback move than his old man did, who was more of a bulldozer.

He's not done filling out either.

On another note, I remember a time when Marc Edwards had made a critical fumble during a game, and went up to Lou, saying that as a captain, he would like to be benched so he doesn't screw up the team's chances of winning.

Lou angrily hollered at him, ordering him to get his butt back out there, and show them what a captain of the team does to elevate them, and Edwards finished the job.

Great player and had an NFL career too. Outstanding gutsy blocker and good receiver out of backfield

but for some reason, he stopped by our booth at the PGA Merchandise show. We got into a conversation which covered many topics of which he seemed quite informed. Though my daughter was at Notre Dame at the time, I had no idea of his connection or history...but I knew the name. Finally, as he was ready to leave, we exchanged names and I knew it had been a special opportunity. Though I have been blessed to meet dozens of celebrities, mostly from various sports backgrounds, in my time, Marc Edwards would rate in the top 5 of my most memorable and enjoyable. Sure hope his son can enjoy the same path and success at Notre Dame.

Kool story and memory for you.
