My wife and I are thinking about bringing our 3 daughters to the Stanford game this year.

We are planning on flying in on Friday night from Palm Springs, CA and spending the night in Chicago since it is one stop. The game is set for 12:30 pm kickoff. What time should we leave Chicago on Saturday morning to get to the stadium? I am concerned about running into traffic. Also, where is a good place be to park where we could enjoy some tailgating. We also plan on walking the campus with our daughters to let them take it in, as they think about where they would like to go to college.

Thanks a lot for the recommendations!! Go IRISH!!!

Happy 4th of July to all of you gentlemen

We have done it from Orange County a few times. I'd drive down friday night and stay at the Embassy Suites. Its reasonable - right across the street - you can park. Makes game day pretty easy. Might be sold out already - but theres other hotels around the stadium. Theres a lot going on Friday night - that make it special too.

Give yourself at least two hours east on the tollway from Chicago to ND (exit 77).

Tollway traffic isn't a big deal unless we are playing flipping Nebraska. Leave earlier the better. The cost of parking is getting to be ridiculous. Plenty of parking. Everyone has the favorite spots. White Lot is a good choice to tailgate. Nice long walk to campus or free shuttle. Get familiar with stadium bag policy.
