I call what the media does now in these cases the "reverse dog whistle."

Can you imagine how stupid they are? In their little brains, they actually figure that if they bury this information, it will somehow make the public not see the obvious pattern. And then, to cap it off, they become irate when people notice.

But wait, there's more! Police departments are increasingly doing the same thing. Now think about that. Think about the hand-wringing about the precipitous drop in the trust Americans have for our institutions, and then you have law enforcement itself trying to keep the public ignorant? How will that affect public trust? It has already become this craven and dangerous: There have been many cases over the past few years where a violent perp is on the loose, and both the media and the police have refused to offer descriptions of the suspects. Priorities!

And to everyone above the rank of idiot, it is manifest that this dishonesty and obfuscation will produce precisely the type of conclusion that they don't want to produce.
