I'm really not fond of the argument for "Parties can select whichever candidate they want."

I'm sure that this is absolutely true. And legal. I won't dispute that. But why would anyone be okay with any party doing that? The G.O.P. establishment did NOT want Trump in 2016, but he kept winning primaries. And he won them all in 2024 again, despite my expensive wager that he wouldn't. So here he is.

Why are democrats accepting of this? Perhaps they really would've voted for Kommiela. Or not. But to just shoehorn her in without input for the voters directly spits in the face of the "democracy" they claim to be trying to "save."

Your Bernie reference is another good example. I get it: The establishment knows he's unlikeable and felt he'd lose 40 states. But the voters should be the ones weighing that and deciding it.
