Lloyd Austin is least qualified for sure. He needs a special waiver to bypass the law in order to

become secretary of DoD. That means by law he was not even eligible for that DoD job. Congress of both chambers had to have special legislation solely for him to bypass the law.

He is the least qualified because his civilian life is too short. 4 years, geeze. Most of us here are 4 times, 5 times more than him. When Truman drafted the legislation to create DoD back then, he did not care about the military background of the secretary, or at least weren’t concerned enough to address the issue in the legislation. Civilian experience matters much more militarily one for this job.

But what Austin's 4-year civilian life looks like? The board member of defense contractor. He represented special interest group, nothing else.
