What am I missing. This is an honest question.

Is it just the tough love that is provoking them to do this? Obviously, being the nice parent just encouraged freeloading. Is this just an opportunity to pile on Eli and Trump? Or, is there a substantive problem that the responders here have with provoking NATO to step up their ability to fight the Russians?
