And as I’ve mentioned, California is the largest donor state by far. We send the federal government a lot more than we receive.
Having said that, I can see some people not being able to retire here. That sucks, but I leave it to everyone’s personal preference as to where they’d like to live. There is good and bad in every state. I like it out here for a multitude of reasons. I don’t see myself leaving…ever. Too nice, I make good money, I have a beautiful home, my kids are going to college here, I love my job and my colleagues, I have a lot of friends here, there’s no snow unless I want to see snow…
What I don’t like…I see a lot of active duty military that need assistance…mostly E4 and below with families. In my philanthropic efforts at my company, we organize food drives and volunteer to assist some local non-profits that are military specific. Homelessness is a big problem that is ongoing, It’s not just California, but there are some terrible drivers out here. Some city streets are in bad condition, in fact I’ve had a conversation with Mayor Gloria about all of my above concerns. He’s a good guy and he does his best, but there is only so much he can do. Sorry for rambling.
