Putin will never invade Ukraine... although his troops could easily sweep across the country, they would soon find themselves the victims of a perpetual insurgency that would quickly drain away vital Russian resources. Putin's strategy is to weaken the Ukrainian government until it has no choice but to comply with Putin's demands.
