at or below the Poverty Line, is extremely difficult, and the GOP prefers to cut spending for SNAP, Child Care, Housing Assistance, Medicare, and many other Safety Net programs. In my early days, I grew up in Queens and still have relatives in and around the city, so I have more than a passing interest in how the new Mayor performs. A case in point is my cousin who spent her entire adult life working on Madison Avenue...not wealthy...but earned a decent income...her husband passed away... ~20 yrs ago...no kids.... and all she has is her moderate Pension, plus Social Security. Her Apartment went Condo quite awhile ago and were it not for rent stabilization, she could very easily be on the street. I like it that Mamdani "Sees" her and wants to help her along with the other 1.5M residents with very little, if any, 'Disposable Income', or housing options.
