More from that link...it's not unreasonable to suspect Malone's appointment is a political favor...not a scientific one...after all, the GOP Governor has a fair amount of sway when it comes to the largest STATE University in Louisiana...

“This is a shame that our prestigious institution is now linked to a person like Dr. Malone,” said Eric Ravussin, a diabetes and obesity researcher who holds a Boyd professorship, the most prestigious academic appointment LSU awards to its faculty.

Malone is closely affiliated with U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., another prominent vaccine skeptic and source of health misinformation. In June, Kennedy appointed him to the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices, an independent panel key to vaccine policy and access in America.

In 2021, Gov. Jeff Landry invited Kennedy and Malone to appear at a state legislative hearing on requiring the COVID-19 vaccine for K-12 school attendance, which Landry, then the attorney general, opposed.
