JB, South Pole doesn't move. Geographic pole & geomagnetic pole are not same thing. But I understand

what you meant. No, south magnetic pole doesn't have to move same distance in opposite path. Both earth magnetic poles move independently. But after some time, they reverse. Historically earth's magnetic poles have reversed quite many times. Right now its south pole actually is near north pole of earth. What we called the north magnetic pole actually is earth's magnetic field's south pole.
