If you favor centralized bureaucratic control of society and the economy by "enlightened" elites then you can cite and argue enough facts to convict anyone who opposes your obsessive compulsivity of almost any crime you can conjure up. On the other hand, if you prefer a strictly libertarian approach to government you can easily find facts to support paranoid conspiracy theories about deep state abuses of power. To a certain degree there are probably elements of truth in both viewpoints... although it is impossible to convince your opponents to ever open their minds to an alternative reality.
