We remodeled the master bath last year

My wife insisted on moving two sinks about 12 inches each, plus moving the shower drain about the same, plus flipping the faucet on the new tub to the other side; it satisfied her OCD issues by centering the sink and shower drain to fit the new custom cabinets and counter tops, but it also added almost $20K to the project.

If you don't need custom cabinets, don't get them -- you can get pre-made cabinets from Lowes or Home Depot, or you can even have your existing cabinets refinished. Our counter tops are granite, which is very durable but expensive.

All together we spent over $70K. We won't get it back if we sell, but it's our house and we really didn't look at it as an investment.
