The reunification of the country and the ending of slavery are monumental events.

As an aside, some European countries have Midsummer Day Holiday on Friday, so it matches up with them.

Just think how awesome this country would be if the Brits had never allowed slavery here. Alas, while slavery was eliminated, division is still encouraged by some who use it for short sighted power objectives.
