“Comprehensive immigration reform” is code for mass amnesty, which Trump never advocated for. The so-called Border Act of 2024 was a mass amnesty bill and an invitation for millions more bogus asylum claims and other avenues for illegal immigration. There are good reasons why James Lankford was the GOP point person for that bill in the Senate. He’s a pro-amnesty RINO, he represents a state that has a surprising number of his ilk in their GOP political establishment, and he’s not up for reelection until 2028. He played the John Cornyn game. It didn’t work out well for Cornyn. We’ll see if it works out for Lankford.

Trump was indeed instrumental in killing the bill, but there was much more at work. GOP Congressmen were deluged with calls and emails reminding them in no uncertain terms that amnesty is unacceptable. I didn’t bother with my two New Hampshire Reps because they’re leftists who want to grant amnesty to all illegal aliens in hopes that they’ll become Democrat voters. I did contact Speaker Johnson to express my strong opposition to the bill.

Are you suggesting that Republican Congressmen should have acted against the will of their voters?

My position is straightforward. The only acceptable treatment of anyone who entered our country illegally or violated the terms of their visa is deportation. Anything else is amnesty, no matter what euphemism is attached to it (pathway, dreamer, dignity).

To paraphrase President Trump, we didn’t need new laws. We just needed a new President who was willing to enforce our existing laws, thereby living up to his Constitutional oath.
