Rubber Soul was the first Beatle album not to carry their name on the cover. I remember, vividly, dropping needle on that vinyl and being taken beyond a mere auditory vista. This album changed into an experience. I was in 6th grade and this album became an epiphany for me, musically.
I had just taken up guitar and this album was more challenging than simple rhythm chords.
Rubber Soul blurred the boundary between high culture and pop.
