A strong 3.4% growth surprised every economist, despite a massive surge in import which acts as
significant drag.
The massive import surge deducted 3.3% from overall GDP growth. Otherwise our 3rd quarter GDP growth would be 3.4%+3.3% =6.7%. If we can make half of those imports domestically produced, our economy will be much stronger and more self-sufficient.
