Alright guys, we're implementing some new forum rules. The goal here is to tone down the rhetoric. No single poster should be dominating the discussion. If you're starting many new political threads every day (doesn't matter which side), I'm talking to you. We want people to stop and think a bit more before posting. With that in mind, the following are effective immediately:
- 1) No entering into a thread with the intention of baiting another poster, without speaking to the content of the thread's topic. Stay within the topic.
- 2) Back and forth pissing matches/arguments between 2 posters which go past 8 replies will be deleted. Posters should know when it's time to bow out. It's not interesting to anyone other than the participants. You can take it to private messaging if necessary.
- 3) A limit of 2 new threads, per user, per day (relaxed for non-political posts; science, sports, etc). This isn't a hard rule, but we want to cut down on the number of political posts (both sides) being spammed to the board. We don't need a slew of Twitter links from the same people every day. It dominates the discussion, and discourages others from participating.
- 4) Limit personal attacks (already a rule), especially some of the broad categorizations that have been happening lately. People should be allowed to hold opinions without being called "Antifa" or a "white supremacist". Name calling isn't explicitly disallowed (I don't want posters coming to me and complaining about being called names), but do so with discretion. If your act is repetitive, stupid, or particularly callous you'll hear from me.
Finally, I want to emphasize that all decisions from moderators are final and not up for discussion on the forum. That's an existing rule which needs to be followed. If you're complaining about a moderator or a removed post, we'll delete it. If you continue, I'll suspend your account. It's really simple - if you hear from Mark, Kyle, or Frankie V, just follow the direction given. That'll keep us happy. We're not judging anyone or trying to be a pain in the ass, we just want to keep this thing moderately readable. I don't want to kill the spirit of the forum, or over moderate. But if you're asked to do something and have trouble following directions, I won't waste a lot of time on it. I'll pull your account.
Also as a final reminder, use the ignore feature if you need to. I'm expecting people to have a little personal control here. Either self moderate, or if you can't, put the other users on ignore. Hopefully straightforward.
I've attached the other rules below. I'll update them with the above soon.
