Of course, there is no benefit to the individual to answer poll questions. No benefit at all. So the only analysis is on the down side. Also, poll callers are sometimes direct from the local party, not necessarily Quinnipiac. Answering certain ways does get you on lists. Also, only Trump voters are accused of being racist when they are not, and that is the most harmful insult that can be hurled in the United States. People on this forum said Trump would put people on rail cars and take them away. National commentators said Trump's election made the US just like 1930's Germany. That is irrational criticism. But why even open the door to allowing anyone to attack you for supposedly supporting such things? Why open the door to even irrational accusations? Why not just not participate in polls, and spend your time in more productive ways.
No upside, with even very remote (even irrationally remote) downside means it is rational not to do it.
Paying attention to a low probability event can make good sense if the harm is great enough. Risk does not equal probability of harm. Risk equals probability of harm multiplied by the amount of harm.
