It's an important anniversary to honor real heroes who woke up that day thinking it would be routine
The bravery of those men on the airplane over Pennsylvania who chose to act saved an attack on the White House. They weren't frozen in the moment. They didn't rationalize that inaction was the best course to avoid their own danger. They put the lives of everyone else above themselves.
The same thing can be said for the many in NYC who helped others first. Those who went back into the danger because others needed them.
They displayed some of the best aspects of humanity that day.
NYC is and should be proud - it was their greatest moment, and others can only hope to have had a similar response.
