I hate the fact that the AI discussion is becoming political...red vs. blue

I mean, sure, I guess it was inevitable. But this seems like another issue that everyone should be able to agree on.

Initially, a lot of the red team was against AI, and I suppose many still are. But now the blue team says the sky is falling, and the only way to fix things is to elect the blue team to office, whereupon AI will suddenly be safe again. So the red team is starting to mobilize behind AI development, for seemingly political reasons. So tedious.

Should we be responsible? Of course.

Is unilateral AI disarmament a responsible thing to do?...allowing China to control future development of AI instead of us? Of course not. We must continue development of AI. In the race for true artificial general intelligence, to lose by a day is to lose by 5000 years.

Data centers seem like a non-issue...just have their tax revenue offset their effect.
