Some (many?) AI developers look upon silicon-based AI as the next form of human children.
They believe that the underlying structure (carbon? silicon?) is becoming irrelevant to the evolution of "man," and if silicon is more robust....
They don't believe they are exterminating humanity. They are merely facilitating humanity's inevitable transition to a more efficient form.
Not sure I agree, but my consent is likely even more irrelevant.
