By playing nice they mean FOX TV journalists were in attack mode and posed false facts questions to alter the narrative of the interview. Obama admin. claimed FOX TV wasn’t a news organization therefore they didn’t deserve the same privileges as real news organizations. However the Obama administration relented and FOX TV was allowed into the interview.
