Putting country over party is not weird.
It's what normal people in normal, functioning democracies do. I voted for the candidate that offered the more conservative social and fiscal policies. He didn't win.
As I said in my post, after being elected Carney implemented many of the conservative policies I wanted. Increased defense spending, pro-business tax reform, reduced immigration, deep cuts to the public sector payrolls. These are all good things for Canada and all the things I voted for. Why wouldn't I support Carney? I'm not a tribalist. I'm normal.
