I read the article in Science when it came out a month ago. There is a problem with the analysis:
“Either way, the team argues the almost simultaneous emergence of two lineages challenges the lab-origin thesis, as it would require two different viruses leaking at roughly the same time. (Gao and colleagues also found both SARS-CoV-2 lineages in their environmental samples.)”
This is also a problem for the wet market thesis, as it would require two different viruses emerging at roughly the same time. Neither of which, by the way, has been traced to any potential animal host.
