He was Buddhist. While numerous Buddhist priests have self-immolated over time, a look at Wynn Alan Bruce's FB page seems to show what I would expect: a middle-aged, single man, with pictures only of himself, or himself and his dog. Combine that with a fatalistic side belief system of impending doom, and you have the recipe for suicide.
