Not really. Italy's economy (as well as Spain) actually is much better than Germany, UK & FR.

Italy's problem is its heavy reliance on Russia oil and gas, same as Germany. (Spain's problem is its inflation). The right wing leader of Italy against both Russian invasion and sanction on Russia. It's her stand on sanction that made EU nervous. Of course their stand on anti- immigration, support traditional family value and national sovereign also upset EU.
