He was a first-round pick, which was pretty amazing given that he isn't a good shooter, something almost always required of guards at the next level. I think many ND fans are in a bit of denial. I suspect that Burton will return, but I could easily see a team taking him in the second round. You can't teach his first step and there isn't a player in college basketball who has a better first step than Burton. Nor does anyone have a better mid-range game. He will be able to get into the lane at the NBA level just as he has in college. He's also a poster child for taking recruiting rankings with a heavy dose of salt. In reality, he was a top 25 player. He needs to work on his three point shot and get stronger. The latter is easily remedied and if I were an NBA GM, it wouldn't be much of a factor in my consideration.
