He got complacent....rubbed off on his team and some of his staff

After a 10-3 season when ND lost its last 2 games, he acted like ND just won the NC. I mean why fire BVG after going 10-3 (despite 1 loss entirely on his shoulders)?

Other than a few guys (Onwualu, Morgan, Jarron Jones) nobody got better in the offseason. Afterall they were 10-3 and great!

By the time Kelly figured out there was a problem (Duke), it was too late.

That's my take.

Kelly now seems to be doing a full 180...as the staff shakeup demonstrates. As far as whether or not he can recover? I hope so, but doubt it. With the staff overhaul ND is probably a year a way from actual playoff contention. I see 8-4 next year, which was good enough before the 4-8 season, but not after it.
