It's a matter of DEVELOPMENT that doesn't happen. How many times has ND during BK eras got the best position player out of hotbeds Florida, Texas, Virginia, California, Georgia...Mckinely (#2 WR in Cali) ESB (#1 WR in Cali), Bryant and Folston (#2 and #4 RBs FL), Austin (#1 WR in FL), Prosise (#2 Safety in VA), Litchfield (#1 Safety in VA), Hamilton (#1 Safety in GA), Ewell (#1 DT in VA), Brock Wright (#1 TE in Texas)...Dexter Williams (#2 RB in FL), Tevon Coney (#2 ILB in FL), Jalen Elliott (#1 Safety in VA) and I could go on. These players are not suppose to leave these areas! How ND gets them is a testament that BK and staff can recruit and this is not to mention guys like Q. Nelson, Alize Jones, Jaylon Smiths and a boat load of top talent from other areas.
The development and production is not there with this amount of talent coming in. And now the fastest kid in the history of the Opening is coming? Another 5* TE and a 5* WR. 3 more 5* talents...
Getting talent to ND is the issue. If the development and production came along ND would get over that hump that Clemson did.
