Not to mention the donor class subset of fans, the people who pay for the buildings and get their names on them, aren't going to go along with ND becoming an east-coast-based conference team, if they would go along with giving up independence period.

Let's see, must play USC and Navy (remembering that the ND administration has repeatedly stated ND will play Navy annually as long as Navy wants to continue the series) so where's Stanford and the guarantee of an annual west-coast game?
