Quinn used to be one.
Greg Hudson, an experienced DC, was one and stepped in as DC when he fired VG.

The position was originally designed by the NCAA for up-and-coming trainees (former players, etc) and to increase coaching diversity. These are typically low paid jobs. Leave it to the SEC to pollute that effort.

I think Alabama is the only team that consistently acquires the sheer number and type of the guys that they do. They are really are a one off in that regard.
