"How much of that was RPO - passes to the RB in the backfield": you're confusing misstatement ...

with misreading.

I'm not assuming anything. Alabama was in the top 5 in every category from 10+ yds to 90+ yds plays: 2020 National Leaders Long Scrimmage Plays but averaged only 5.0 yds rushing per carry, identical to ND. (If "the tide have a great run game" with fewer yds/g and with the identical yds per carry as ND, I guess that means ND had a great run game.)

What does "balance of attack" mean? The balance of the attack should be determined by the defense; that's what RPOs allow and that is why they have changed the game and that's why the old formula, as Saban said, won't win anything.

It is Brian Kelly who has said that solid defense, running the ball and controlling the clock is ND's DNA.

          • Exactly. Alabama and OSU start with big backs and a power running game. That's the model. Copy it. [NT] - tky21 - 9:20pm 3/28/21
