And the defensive play, considering the wealth of experience and talent we have on that side of the ball, has been putrid compared to expectations. This was expected to be one of the best defenses in the nation, they have vastly underperformed. Does this mean they are terrible? No, but to pretend there isn't a problem on that side is just short sighted.

Yes, the offense (most specifically the OL) is a MAJOR problem, but they also entered the season (other than the OL) as a major question mark.

As bad as the offense has been, they aren't underperforming by as large a margin as the D vs expectations.

In my eyes if I was forced to center in on just two things, it would be this...our OL and DL have both played very soft. This leads me to question either motivation or strength and conditioning.

Something in that area {motivation or strength and conditioning} is missing.
