legs. When you have that ability it opens the passing game up. Watson was a pretty good passer but his arm strength exceeded his accuracy. Lawrence had both but the reason they beat Alabama was not strictly because of long bombs. Sure it would be helpful to have both, a dynamic passing game with arm strength to complete long bombs but in those cases, their ability to make plays with their legs turned out to be the backbreaking plays that broke down Alabama's other wise advantageous personnel. It also opened up the passing game and promoted easier passing lanes and did not require dead accurate passes.
We have Leonard who is more of a bonafide running threat with his arm strength being adequate but his accuracy being inconsistent. If he improves and he did against Louisville, (until the coaches took their foot off the pedal), he could do the job. It takes a lot of luck and unfortunately we are decimated by injuries. I do like the looks of our younger players and the kid that replaced Bothello looks like he could be a huge difference maker if he can now overcome what looks to be a bad knee injury maybe not this year but next year.
I still think Leonard gives us our best chance to win the rest of our games this year.
