In the case of Arizona State/Iowa State, for example, I would say neither team is in at this point. Texas and Georgia, though, obviously are. The game can affect seeding from what I've been reading.

    • There is no way Clemson should get in if they lose. Its a joke they even - ndphysics - 11:32am 12/1/24
      • Exactly, I would be pissed. [NT] - THEISMANCARR - 1:46pm 12/1/24
    • Curious, how did they word that? - NDNEIL - 10:14am 12/1/24
      • Exact wording "We will not ove⁰rly punish teams for losing in a Conference Championship game". [NT] - Chrisb - 11:20am 12/1/24
        • Interesting. So they did leave themselves an out. [NT] - NDNEIL - 1:12pm 12/1/24

    • But they will. The money grab conference championships make zero sense w/ 12 team playoff. - conorlarkin - 9:06am 12/1/24
      • Correct - get rid of them and the ND penalty - Nigel Tufnel - 11:18am 12/1/24
      • Yes, the conference championship game will affect their seeding but not their participation - MarkHarman - 9:44am 12/1/24
        • It needs to end. Makes no sense other than SEC/Big trying to stack the playoffs. - LanceManion - 11:57am 12/1/24
        • Rewarding the winner is more equitable than punishing the loser. [NT] - conorlarkin - 9:47am 12/1/24
          • But that may punish a team ‘already in’ if a team outside wins a conference championship - ndinga - 10:15am 12/1/24
            • I think there's some room for fluidity in these cases - MarkHarman - 11:12am 12/1/24
            • I say if you play the game, feel the consequences - ndinga - 10:18am 12/1/24
              • The flipside is that Notre Dame would not have finished 11-1 playing a conference schedule. - conorlarkin - 10:32am 12/1/24
                • Thank you, we actually agree on something. Not sure that has ever happened before [NT] - WoodstockIrish - 1:31pm 12/1/24
                • That depends - ndinga - 10:39am 12/1/24
