Like all the Big Ten teams, their ideal schedule would include zero non-conference games that are not sure wins and, essentially, scrimmages.
That way they can be prepared to face the annual, brutal murder’s row of perennial contenders including Purdue, Northwestern, Minnesota, Illinois, Nebraska, Rutgers, Maryland, Iowa, etc.
They feature three reliably tough teams - UM, tOSU, PSU. A couple more - Oregon, USC - that are usually good, but a lot of cheap filler to feast on in the Big Ten lineup.
I think once SC can put together a couple wins in a row against us again, they will feel they can cancel the rivalry without losing too much face.
