ND will still make the CFP even with a loss to Miami...

Lost the link to the analysis. But it goes like this:

CFP voters will not punish a playoff ranked team for getting beat by a higher ranked team. The rationale being that the SEC and Big10 teams play brutal schedules so they shouldn't be unfairly penalized for conference schedule intensity. Under that rubric, #4 ND will still get a CFP invite because Miami is more highly ranked.

The person making the analysis also commented that ND could benefit by the practice but it does not deserve it for 2 reasons. The first is that ND's schedule is weak this year. Even 2 losses should be enough to drop them from the CFP because they haven't beaten anybody else that matters. The second reason is that Miami's schedule is even more lame except for the game with ND. Miami may be ranked higher than ND, but Miami itself has not demonstrated that it actually deserves the #1 ranking because it hasn't faced and beaten any other high caliber competition.

Parenthetically, given that logic, one could argue that undefeated Big10 UCLA should be ranked #1 ahead of Miami.

I want ND in the CFP even with 2 losses if it comes to that, but I can't argue with the guy's assessment.
