Preaching to the choir, but it wasn't a catch

'Cane fans and ND haters insisting it was a catch by Lofton at 3:36. We all know the official on the field ruled it incomplete and so did the replay crew. But when ESPN'S Joey Galloway, who played the position, says it wasn't a catch (as he did this morning), that means something. And here are the pertinent parts of the rule itself: "Maintains control of the ball long enough to enable that player to perform an act common to the game, i.e., long enough to pitch or hand the ball, advance it, avoid or ward off an opponent, etc....When in question, the catch, recovery or interception is not completed."

The very fact it's being debated so heavily means by definition it was at the very least "in question." But clearly Lofton could not pitch or hand the ball off or do any of the things the rule requires.

Just some more information to shut up whining 'Cane sycophants.
