-In 1917, he went to the University of Wisconsin fall camp, but left before enrolling in the school.
-The next year, 1918, he did the same at ND and stayed; however, he missed the second semester due to a severe case of tonsillitis. After that, he left ND and never came back.
-He was a native of Green Bay of Belgian ancestry.
-In 1919, he was a co-founder of the Green Bay Packers. He had a job at the time with the Indian Packing Co. and wanted to call the team the "Green Bay Indians" because the packing company paid $500 for the team's uniforms; however, his girlfriend at the time, suggested the "Green Bay Packers." He agreed and the name stuck. He played that season, and in 1920, he became a player/coach. He was an active player from 1919-1929. He was the head coach from 1920-1949, winning 6 NFL titles along the way.
-Unlucky in love: Curly survived three failed marriages. He didn't give up though: In 1965, at age 67, he was dating a real hottie, who was a champion majorette and a Packers Golden Girl (shades of Bill Belichick?). He was waiting outside her house and saw her father mowing the lawn. Why not score some brownie points with his new flame? He valiantly took over the lawn mowing and soon died of a heart attack!
