Denbrock called a decent game

Wisconsin has a pretty good defensive line, and they were playing more of a Cover 2 scheme, conceding the spread out, short-medium to medium part of the field.

Carr did a fine job of taking what was given, and making the throws. There were two bad decisions, but given that he still produced decent numbers (65.5% accuracy, 239 yard, 2 TD, 0 INT), I believe this is simply a case of CJ Carr not trying to get overly aggressive or overly conservative, and taking the best available options.

It was only a matter of time before we wore out their defensive front 7 to the point where the run game significantly opened up.

To put it this way, I would say the same thing about the teams that carved up our defense in 2014, when Brian Van Gorder was playing Cover 2 or Cover 3 all of the time. They effectively took the short to medium area, and piled up a lot of points.

They didn't have to challenge our defensive backs downfield, especially since there were several NFL draft picks in that stable.

If Jaylon Smith weren't there in coverage, the 2014 and 2015 defenses would have been shredded to an even finer texture.

As the offensive line continues to solidify, that's when we can be more aggressive with the long range downfield passing game. Given that the line was a bit shaky in the 1st half, those quick hitting passes helped mask this weakness.
