Bobby Bowden actually had some good words of wisdom
Preface:
I have no love for Bowden. He was a slime ball and only won that 1993 championship because everyone hated Notre Dame, and everyone felt sorry for Bobby.
Anyways...
Lou Holtz was coaching William and Mary got blown out by Bowden's West Virginia team back in 1970, and had this conversation:
I got to coach Bobby Bowden after and said 'Bobby, we're friends! Why did you run the score up?' And he told me 'it's your obligation to hold the score down. If you don't like this score then recruit better and coach better. But don't ask me to lower my level of performance to yours.'"
