Colleges have a lot of expenses to cover. Sure they may make money from football, but to maintain the university…which is the backbone of the team and the reason people are fans of specific teams costs lots of money.
A good part of it all comes from raising tuition to insane rates.
Truth be told, I had just as much fun watching my division 3 college team play….all just for the usual free ride.
Paying players millions and isolating them from the regular students isn’t college.
Remove the college name from all the teams and call them minor league Jets, Bills, etc, and the fans will drop off drastically.
