I’m sorry you may not get the freebie you had hoped for but maybe you should have considered that before going to post-secondary school. And hoping you could vote in someone who would erase your obligation so you could buy more stuff and pay less on loans is exactly why you and your degree are worthless. You are a parasite and you should be ashamed of your parasitism. That is all.

    How many hours does it take to pay off a doctorate degree at $60 an hour?

    If I'm already paying $60/hr to pay this person's doctorate degree off, do I have to pay on top of that, or is the $60 tax deductible? Would it be possible to start paying something like $80/hr to cut out the middle man?

    Also, if I can't cut out the govt as a middle man, am I ethically obligated to take my kid to a different flute teacher who isn't receiving govt assistance and is therefore less fortunate?

        Although, I believe it was mostly documented on another board that I can no longer find. I like where your head is at though. I often call it corporate socialism and have found if you want to trigger Republicans, that's a good term to use.

        On this specific note, I'll add that I live in a place that has 4 warring gas stations that have some of the lowest prices in the country and for the last ~9 months. They have all sustained prices that are 20-30 cents/gallon cheaper than any other gas stations in the area. How does this work? How are they able to maintain this pricing when nobody else seems to be able to maintain those prices?

        These companies suck at the govt teat, and then enact anti-capitalist price fixing strategies, that's how.

        I am frustrated by the subsides, probably more than most. It affects so much of the economic and political landscape, but it's a rock and a hard place. I don't like it, but I've not seen a good answer for what can be done.

          Your child receives lessons tutoring her in a skill something you pay for. That’s something you do for your daughter and for yourself. The person you hired for this endeavor has a value to you and your family. The tutor’s degree and skill level you believe will pay dividends down the road and the least of it is your child’s adoration for life.

          The fact the US government is entertaining monetary compensation in the form of debt relief on exorbitant predatory loans that were and are available to most students coming out of high-school is not anywhere similar to subsides you would pay for.

          I agree that this type of compensation is wrong headed - the action should be the government going after predator lending places in all cases of education and student loans. (But then, most Republicans would bellyache about the destruction of capitalism).

          What I get from your post is you dislike the fact the tutor didn’t receive a degree you personally place a high value on. A degree that creates great wealth. But then, if the instructor had no degree who would you hire to instruct your little darling?

    My estimate is from his undergrad university's website for cost to attend. According to his LinkedIn page, he got a Bachelors & Masters of Criminal Justice. Then he added on a Masters in Pastoral Studies / Counseling. Now he works in campus ministry for another school.

    I don't begrudge him any of that. A person should have a right to study whatever they want...and even change directions academically if they want.

    But they don't have a right to do things they can't afford, and then demand others pay him for his lack of personal responsibility.

    For him to act like he has a right to have others pay for it because he wasn't financially responsible...for him to pretend that he was promised that as part of the American dream...that, as Chris would say, is utter bullshit.

    He went to expensive schools rather than state schools. He got 3 degrees that couldn't pay his loans.

    Total. Bullshit.

    I was first year college in my family, like this guy. I went to an expensive school too. But, I got a degree with a high average paying salary...I didn't pursue a hobby degree. And, I joined the Army and earned a scholarship to pay the lion's share of the cost...and committed to time in the service after graduation as a personal cost for that. Cheaper states schools were an option, but I decided it was worth it to pay for ND. That was my decision. I would never ask this jackass to pay for my education.

    But, if he gets his paid for, I want to be reimbursed my cost as well. And, I want to be paid back for all my kids I sent to college. Fair is fair.
