You can stick it with your Trumper talk. Trump blocked Nordsteam 2 and Biden removed the tech ban to allow its completion to give Putin oil leverage. Trump was completing Keystone XL to compete in oil exports with Russia among others…Biden killed it. Putin this felt he had the economic leverage on the EU to pull off more of a land grab back. Biden also told the world that a minor incursion would not merit a major response….no amount of later walk backs can fix that. Biden fucked up Afghanistan withdrawal so that Putin could see what a weak, clusterfuck of a president Biden was - he projected weakness. In the past, Biden/Obama had refused to give military aid to Ukraine when Putin came into Crimea - they sent blankets instead. Weakness projected. Trump sent real arms to Ukraine while he was president which proved to be crucial for them to withstand the early onslaught of Putin because……Biden refused to commit to helping Ukraine when Putin threatened again in winter of 2020 - more weakness projected. Biden refused to send meaningful arms ahead of time, and then slowly, incrementally came around thereafter to full support when he saw the political writing on the wall and saw that against all odds, Ukraine was surviving the attack.

If you consider these facts as wrong, it is because YOU are wrong and because YOUR sources of information are shit.

There is no good answer here, but let's not pretend like the US couldn't be doing more to help bring this violence to an end. Don't be so confident to think that providing the support we have, hasn't emboldened Zelensky and his will to keep this war going.

Apartments are being bombed because of Russia and in a perfect world, there would be retribution. In the real world, the quest for retribution leads to more death.

I'm not saying Ukraine shouldn't keep fighting, but if you support their fight, you understand the violence that will come as a result of that fighting.

If the US and NATO did nothing in support of the Ukraine, what would deter Russia from expanding to Estonia, Poland, Czek Republic, et. al. Ukraine has a fighting chance because of our aid.

Russia has purposely targeted civilian infrastructure since the beginning of the war. Putin is a monster in every sense.

Ukraine has some strategic benefits for Russia that may not exist in those other countries. There may be some things we could do diplomatically to prevent that expansion as well.

I don't have any opinion on whether or not we should support extending this conflict. I just know that if we support it, we are in no position to claim the moral high ground in the debate. If we support it, calling people filth for disagreeing is not palatable.

I also know that the US has plenty to gain from seeing this war continue so I'm hesitant to think our involvement is just about maintaining order in the region.

You'll get no argument from me that Putin is a monster. I'll simply point out that his law enforcement arm and media are in cahoots I'll simply state that some of the people most outraged by Putin seem more than willing to model our government after his.

So, any old eastern block country is in the crosshairs. I think diplomacy is a possibility, but Russia won’t come to the table until they’re desperate.

We, the USA, support the greater good. Is the Ukraine perfect? Hell no, but they’re a far lesser evil than Russia. In my opinion, we need to continue to support the Ukraine. This will ultimately break Russia. Their economy is already shit and they can’t outspend us.

I’ll combine the last two paragraphs…Russia is our enemy. It’s that simple. We can’t trust Putin or anyone else in the Russian government. They want world dominance. The only problem with that is that Russia is a glorified 3rd world nation with nukes. I disagree that the people just outraged by Putin want a government modeled after his government. That makes zero sense.

My mother-in-law is terrified and now so is my wife, who dare not travel to see her mom. Ironically she lives in a neighborhood of old Soviet era “architecture,” which means that Putin is knocking down relics of the evil empire he so wants to re-establish. Most of Ukraine is still struggling to overcome the horrific legacy of communism, which they all desperately want to avoid shackling them again. I’d love to confront Bernie Sanders and his fellow travelers about the true horrors of communism. We have forgotten everything.
