Has anyone else been a lifelong fan of MLB team worse than this year’s White Sox?

The Tigers in 2003, 119 losses. Painful! Fortunately they got Leyland and he turned it around fast.

when he struck out 17 of my Tigers. He smiled and said somebody had to do it.

The last True World Series. Only one team from each league went to the Series. No playoffs or wild cards. The best of the two met and decided it in 7 games. Lolich beat Gibson in Game 7.

Complete game. McLain had a sore arm but still won Game 6.

I was going to say the early 90's Indians....but I see that the CHISOX are going to blow past them.

Caught a foul ball off the bat of Tim Raines when he played for the White Sox and had him sign the ball when he was a coach with the White Sox. The White Sox have had some great players playing for them through all these years.I was watching a White Sox post game show the other night and their current interm manaager told all these younguns playing for the White Sox to take advantage of their time in the bigs because if they were in one of those high profile organizations they'd still be in Triplle A ball.

I can buy into that if there's something "scrappy" about such a team. This is not the case here.

This isn't one of those Cubs teams of the early 90's that played better/hustled more in front of their raucous home fans. Or one of those Braves teams in 1989 or 1990 where you thought "I might get to see a young Smoltz or Glavine today."

This team does everything poorly at an historic level. They have a 300-run deficit (!!!). Offensively, they're the worst at getting on base, the worst at hitting for power, they draw the fewest Walks, and they've scored 100 fewer runs than the next worst scoring team.

Pitching-wise, they have the worst E.R.A., F.I.P., W.H.I.P., and Hits/9. They even have the most Balks!!!

Compounding the problem: It's not like they're a young team waiting to develop. They're older than the league average.

I don't know if I've seen a team this bad.

As a Cardinals fan, I suffered through seasons like 1990 and the lean-spending Dal Maxvill years pre-LaRussa in the early '90s. But nothing compared to the White Sox this year.

I had family members who were long-suffering Braves fans (the step-side of my family has always been in Georgia). They were in the same general category of bad as your team this season, and it went on for like 6 seasons. I would imagine they feel your pain. Maybe you can argue that they were "building" towards their big 14-year run that started in 1991, but I don't care who you are, no one saw that coming. They didn't think there was any hope in sight.

In the 90’s, I can remember one year they were in playoff contention and they finished behind Toronto. Paul Molitor left after that year. The only bright spot was Robin Yount making it to 3000. Once they built the new park and got a new owner, they became competitive and then started fielding good teams.

I never like the Cubs, but I liked the Sox. The Sox were the working class's team. The Cubs were something else.

There were some awful Braves and Pirates teams in the 80s that might rival this year's Sox. I seem to recall a particularly abysmal Devil Rays team at some point.

Not MLB, but there were some atrocious Pacers teams in the early/mid 80s I rooted for. It was all supposed to change when they drafted Wayman Tisdale. Great guy, good player, but not even close to a franchise player. Then they drafted Reggie Miller and put the pieces around him to be a contender. Naturally, the fans booed when Miller was drafted. They wanted Steve Alford, who made Rick Mount seem like a pro hall of famer.
