what he's talking about.

From Trump's interview with Maria Bartiromo:

In a Sunday interview on Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo, Trump was asked about several of his economic plans including tariffs and "how he will pay for it" due to the CRFB's projected debt increase.

The former president responded: "If I do this, you're gonna have car companies coming back to the country because of the taxes and the tariffs. The tariffs will protect them when they come in so they will protect from other companies coming in because if the other companies don't come in, they are going to have to pay massive tariffs."

Bartiromo then asked, "What about the criticism that if you do put something like a 200 percent tariff on a product, that it's only gonna mean higher prices for consumers?"

Trump, in response, denied that claim, "No it's not. No, no." However, Bartiromo interjected: "It's got to be passed on somehow."

Trump reiterated that his plan would deter foreign companies from "hurting our car companies."

"I put 200 or 500 I don't care, I'll put a number where they can't sell one car into the United States because I don't want them hurting our car companies. We are going to have a lot of car companies moving into the United States. When I use 200, I'm using it as a number, I don't want their car. They will not be able to sell cars. I'm not going to let them build a factory right across the border and sell millions of cars into the United States."

Son, you're too young to know that piece of history - how Reagan won trade war against Japan.

Do you know Reagan imposed 100% tariff on Japanes semiconductor and other imports, effectively blocking them into US market? Do you know Reagan gave Tokyo “an eye for an eye" fight in trade war with Japanese car import? Do you know Plaza Accord that completely changed US from disadvantage position to a favorable position against both Japan and Europe?

No, you don't. Because you don't know Reagan's playbook, of course you don't understand Trump's plan which is from Reagan's playbook. Like Reagan, Trump uses tariff, trade war... as tools to negotiate for a favorable position. The goal is to tell China, don't dare to open your EV plant in Mexico. I won't allow a single EV to enter US market with my tariff.
You need to come Midwest US to open EV plants, teach GM how to make EV. This is just like Tayota, Honda opened car plants in Kentucky and Ohio after Reagan won trade war.

Reagan never proposed a Blanket Tariff on all goods from overseas suppliers...he targeted Japan,

for very specific products...just as Biden is doing with China and its EV batteries. Reagan always touted the GOP mantra of "Free Trade"...Trump is 180 deg. away from that business ethos.

To implement a blanket tariff would incite a global trade war where no one wins...and certainly not the American consumer.

As several CEOs said after a gathering with Trump a few months ago...'He has no idea what he's talking about'

It’s not rocket science. He has proposed one of the most destructive economic policies imaginable.

Proof of that is in the Journal survey I posted. Yet he has gotten a free pass on it? D’s should have been pounding on this. Talk about a feckin tax increase on the working class. I don’t get it. Who the feck is running the show for Harris?

she would do nothing differently from Biden who gave us this massive cost of living increase from regulations, inflation, unbridled spending, unending funding of foreign wars, and anti-American economic decisions, and Green New Deal policies.

If that’s crazy to vote for Trump for those reasons, then sign the majority of the the electorate up right now!

You’ll always have your prolonged Shut Down to savor though, so buck up.

You may enjoy being gas lit to your face, but most of us don't.

Not to mention the economic indicators that were horrible early into Biden's term have gotten better every year, not worse! So yes that means there is steady leadership currently in the WH!
