Not like D.C. The massive bureaucracies there control us b/c Congress abrogates its duties.
And the bureaucracies are part of the Executive Branch, so they are (or should be) well within the control of POTUS to downsize them. But, they resist their own downfall quite successfully.

Why do you care who ambassadors are? Political payoffs seem to be the norm.
I am not sure why we need ambassadors, the president can do a zoom call with foreign leaders. I would DOGE them.
