Career
Crowley passed the firefighters' exam in 1998, finishing in the top 50 out of more than 16,000 tests taken.[2] She joined the LAFD in 2000. During her time at the department, she has held the roles of firefighter, paramedic, engineer, fire inspector, captain, battalion chief, assistant chief, fire marshal and deputy chief.[5] Crowley became Los Angeles' first female fire marshal in 2016.[2]
Crowley was named fire chief in 2022, replacing Ralph Terrazas, who had assumed the role in 2014.[3] Upon her appointment, Crowley noted that in addition to "maintaining firefighters' safety, health and overall well-being", she planned to promote a "work environment that is free of harassment, discrimination and hazing".[6] As chief, Crowley has encouraged programs that increase diversity in the department, saying that a diverse department is needed to serve a diverse city.[7]
In 2023, she was appointed to the Homeland Security Advisory Council, the second fire chief to serve in that role.[8] In June 2024, Crowley was a grand marshal at Los Angeles Pride.[9] She has overseen the department's response to the January 2025 Southern California wildfires.[5]

But then again we have the "we must increase diversity" garbage. Hire the best qualified, period.
You just agreed that Kristin Crowley was qualified to be LAFD Chief...she rose through the ranks
by successfully fulfilling the requirements for each more responsible role...and it's highly likely that each an every promotion was made by a non-LGBTQ superior...in other words, she is one of the very best in the LAFD...that's all that matters.
She is qualified. FF is still one of the last bastions of male domination. If she made through those
ranks, she is more than qualified. The bigoted dirtbags who denigrated her should be ashamed. She was also at the top of her initial testing group.

That being said, look at the credentials for Chief Crowley...they are truly Outstanding. If a heterosexual male possessed them, you'd have zero problems with him leading the LAFD...btw, did you know that the man who has provided J.D. Being Anti-Gay shows clear bias by the Editor, David Horowitz, and therefore the article should not
be considered an objective opinion. Check out the attached paper, which mentions an essay written by Mr. Horowitz, entitled “Why gays shouldn’t serve". So, when I do a little research (very easy on the Internet) and see who's behind the criticism of Kristin Crowley, I'm definitely going to bring it up for the Open Forum members to consider. Do you think that information should be hidden?...or worse yet, considered 'irrelevant'?
