Honest questions…
Is it appropriate for Trump to blame DEI for the crash? I’ve never been adversely affected by DEI policies, however, I’m a firm believer in hiring people for qualifications and promotions for merit.
Was this press conference the right forum to politicize this tragedy?
Why was Pete Hegseth there? What does the Sec Def have to do with the FAA and the Dept of Transportation?

When prices remain high and inflation creeps back up which they will, the nation will tire of his crappy right quick.

This tragedy was not Trump’s fault.
Yet, because it occurred on his watch, his first reaction is to deflect and blame and manufacture a culprit. What autocrats do.
Planes have been flying in and out of National for decades in very tight airspace, shared with military helicopters. This will come down to communication shortcomings between the two pilots.
Shit happens on a President’s watch. Governing is difficult. Working the problem takes effort and critical thinking — traits that Trump lacks.
Trump’s remarks to point the finger at Mayor Pete and DEI, reflects Trump’s dishonest and divisive style of leadership, or rather lack of leadership.

I wish he has waited until later to go into DEI since undoubtedly some of those victims and families are Dems and they are grieving.
Trump has seen all of the evidence, and clearly there was incompetence on the part of either ATC or military but not the commercial pilots who died.
It dovetails into DEI - and his revelation about the FAA’s recent DEI hiring guidelines -even increased just 2 weeks ago is very disturbing.
Trump is also talking in the context of the MSM already blaming him & his appointments which is absurd this early. But, he should gave thicker skin.
I 1000% agree that critical jobs such as an ATC should be merit based / Trump is correct on this and you obviously agree.
Do you need to have been personally affected by a critical hire with less competence to know that it puts you at higher risk? Of course not.
I’ve seen the same competency slippage in medicine and surgery. It needs to stop - its not only unconstitutional, it’s common sense.
I wish he had waited a day though, he said he didn’t know if this was DEI related for sure, but he clearly suspects it.
If DEI is not involved here, it does NOT diminish the danger of the DEI practice.
I feel the same way when the left tries to politicize mass shootings as if it will make a difference. President Trump should apologize for the things he said during the press conference.
As far as DEI, yes we’re in agreement and I highly doubt the FAA’s DEI policy had anything to do with this tragedy. It was most likely pilot error on the part of the Army helo. The President responded with “it’s common sense” when a reporter called him out on his comments about the crash being due to DEI.

I’m not targeting you, necessarily, but the left politicizes tragedies as well. Seems it’s a habit on both sides of the aisle that needs to stop.
I don't want to get off topic, but Trump shit all over this one. When he says "highest intellect" and "DEI" you know he just means dumb brown people. This man is an abomination.

Hegseth there because it involved a military helicopter I would assume.
Being POTUS is just a big TV show to him and he’s the main star in his mind. The DEI stuff is just red meat BS.
While this answer none of your questions directly, it also answers all of them.
